Choose a Right Computer for Work

When a business wants to upgrade its computer, it is easy to become confused by the technical data. In this article I will provide you some basic information that will help you to choose a right computer for your business.

Choosing a PC is actually choosing its hardware. For office use, it is mainly about choosing RAM, CPU and hard drive.

1.      RAM

RAM stands for random access memory. It allows date to be read and written in roughly the same amount of time regardless of the order in which data are accessed.  Unlike hard drive, the data will lose if cut off the power.

If you do not understand above paragraph, don’t worry. Just remember 4GB RAM is standard size for current PC. If RAM goes under 4 GB, the PC will work very slow. The reason is because the operating system has already used 1.5GB RAM (Windows 7 32-bit). 8GB is more ideal if your budget allows it.

2.      CPU

These days even the cheapest PC includes a CPU with two cores. It means it can run multiple tasks at the same time without delay. For office use, Intel i3 is capable. Intel i5 will be perfect if budget allows it.

3.      Hard drive

There are two main kinds of hard drive. One is a traditional HDD hard drive, other is a SSD hard drive.  SSD has a faster read/write speed compared with HDD but it has relatively small capacity and higher cost. With the technology development, SSD is going to replace HDD in the future.  So if the budget allows, go for a SSD.
